This lecture introduces the pharmacological agents used to treat mycobacterial infections, primarily tuberculosis (TB) caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and less commonly non-tuberculous mycobacteria and leprosy (Hansen’s disease).

The lecture focuses on the first-line and second-line anti-TB drugs, their mechanisms of action, pharmacokinetics, adverse effects, and the principles of combination therapy to prevent drug resistance. It also covers multidrug-resistant TB (MDR-TB) and extensively drug-resistant TB (XDR-TB).
